MATSATSANTSA WELCOME F.U.S RABAT
Three days after the end of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on the African continent for the first time, Absa Premiership champions SuperSport United welcomed Morocco’s F.U.S Rabat at the O.R. Tambo International on Wednesday (today) for the Confederations Cup match.
Upon landing the Moroccans were warmly met by the United officials Coltrane Munyai, Freddy Khoza and Luka Matlou.
The visitors didn’t hide their excitement when they expressed their feelings about how much they enjoy blowing a Vuvuzela as it was part of the FIFA World Cup.
“This is not my first time here. I came here a few years (1997\1998 season) playing in the same tournament (Confederations Cup) against Orlando Pirates. I was playing for WIDAD de Casablanca then.
South Africa is a cool place to be. I can feel the World Cup was here and I can certainly blow a Vuvuzela,” said the Rabat captain Benchrifa Mohamed.
Regarding the upcoming crucial match Mohamed stressed that his team is ready and prepared to win the game.
“We know SuperSport are the reigning champions and it is not going to be an easy one. However, we are here to show them what we are made of. We are here to fight for points,” concluded the Rabat skipper.
In May, United lost out on the Champions league’s group stages after a 3-1 defeat by Heartland of Nigeria in the second leg. They drew 1-1 at home in the first leg and needed a victory in the return visit.
The exit meant that the Absa Premiership champions play in the Confederations Cup.
Matsatsantsa are going into this match with new players on board such as striker Dipsy Selolwane, left-back Bradley Carnell and stocky forward Kermit Erasmus. However, these players are not available for Saturday.
The match is scheduled for Saturday at 20:15 at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, Tshwane.
